The speed and efficiency with which domain registrars and hosting services respond to issues like website abuse and copyright infringement are critical.

Unfortunately, GoDaddy, one of the largest and most well-known domain registrars and hosting providers, continues to demonstrate a troubling pattern of inefficiency in addressing concerns.

For many businesses, time is money, and when their intellectual property or reputation is at stake, swift action is not just appreciated—it’s expected.

Yet, reports from frustrated users suggest that GoDaddy’s response time to serious issues, such as website abuse and copyright violations, can often stretch into weeks, if not longer.

The lack of urgency not only harms the affected businesses but also contributes to a broader sense of frustration and a lack of accountability within the industry.

When users attempt to report these issues, they are often met with a cumbersome, long-winded reporting process. The portals provided by GoDaddy for reporting website abuse and copyright infringement are not only confusing but seem intentionally designed to discourage reporting.

Multiple pages of forms and outdated (no longer in use) contact details make it difficult for users to even get started. Instead of providing a simple, streamlined way for businesses to flag issues.

There’s a troubling trend that has been growing for years, but it seems to be getting worse with each passing day.

More and more, PR agencies, advertising firms, and marketing companies are exploiting the hard work of private websites, bloggers, and news publications—reaping the rewards without ever compensating the publishers whose websites they rely on.

What was once considered straightforward journalism or valuable news reporting has increasingly become a vehicle for brand promotion, with subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) advertising embedded in the content.

Rather than providing real, useful information, much of this content is designed to serve a marketing agenda, with the goal of promoting a product, service, or company under the guise of a news story or editorial.

Take, for example, an article that claims to report on a “new breakthrough” in a particular industry. At first glance, it might appear to be an impartial, informative piece.

But, upon closer inspection, you find that the so-called “breakthrough” is little more than a well-crafted press release from a company that is heavily invested in the product or service being promoted

These types of articles are often written in a way that minimizes any potential drawbacks and maximizes the benefits, leaving out any critical information or opposing viewpoints. Essentially, it’s disguised advertising masquerading as a neutral news story.

In recent years, the online forum Black Hat World (BHW) or otherwise known as Scam Hat World “blackhatworld.com” has come under scrutiny for its troubling reputation as a breeding ground for scams and deceitful practices.

With a user base that often includes aspiring entrepreneurs from developing and non-English speaking countries, the forum has been criticised for enabling a range of fraudulent activities under the guise of marketing expertise.

Brian from Spain said, ” Black Hat world is stinky little hovel where people sell outdated “SEO”. Services are backed up by clueless mods who spend their time trying to impress the 13 year old children who congregate in this $#*!e forum,”

Another user said “There is 0 to learn about the site and it is full of trolls and scammers. Just save your time and use google, research your topics and study your craft,” he said.

“Mones from India said,” Moderators are nothing but waste of time. If I complain about vip sellers they dont respond they only needs money,”

“They respect scammers and vip sellers. Its waste of time better avoid. Another thing if you say scammer to moderators they will ban you,” said Mones

Jorge D. from France said,” First of all, this forum is a mess and it is full of advertisement. Then, when you ask a question people pretend to answer but they don’t add any value,”

The public relations industry finds itself at a critical crossroads. As we wade through an ocean of curated messages, press releases, and social media posts, we must ask ourselves: Can we truly trust the statements provided by PR agencies?

Are these voices authentic representations of their clients, or mere fabrications spun to serve the agency’s interests?

Public relations, at its core, is meant to bridge the gap between organisations, audiences and crafting narratives that resonate, evoke empathy, and inspire action.

Yet, in recent years, a troubling trend has emerged—one where the authenticity of these narratives is increasingly called into question.

Take, for instance, the rise of influencer marketing, a phenomenon that has blurred the lines between genuine endorsements and paid promotions.

How often do we see a glowing review from a celebrity or social media influencer, only to learn later that their glowing praise was little more than a transaction?

When an influencer states, “I love this product!” is it a true reflection of their experience, or simply a line crafted by an agency’s PR team? The dilemma extends beyond the influencer space and into corporate communications, where the stakes are even higher.

In a move that has raised eyebrows and sparked outrage among writers and journalists, the online news publication USAWire (usawire.com) is asking authors to pay a monthly fee of $97 in exchange for the opportunity to contribute news, media and other content to its platform.

The unprecedented approach flips the traditional journalistic model on its head, where writers are typically compensated for their work rather than pay the other way around.

A Disturbing Trend in Journalism

In a media landscape where the importance of credible and well-researched journalism is more crucial than ever, the idea of writers paying to provide content for a publication is troubling.

Traditionally, newspapers and magazines invest in talented authors, offering payment for articles, features, and op-eds that engage readers and contribute to the public discourse.

The financial support fosters a vibrant media environment, allowing writers to focus on their craft while providing quality content for consumers.

Critics of USAWire’s model argue that it undermines the very foundation of journalism.

“Writers should be compensated for their expertise and the time they invest in crafting articles, not the other way around,” says Linda Martinez, a freelance journalist with over a decade of experience.

“This model not only devalues the profession but also threatens the quality of the content being produced. How can we expect meaningful journalism when writers are asked to pay cash to give a news site our own reporting?”

Facebook (NASDAQ: META) has “some kind of ineffective system” in place to protect users from fraud. Yet, one Facebook group, brazenly named SCAMMERS LIST UPDATE, continues to operate under the guise of helping victims recover money, for victims of scams.

Despite numerous reports, Meta refuses to remove the group or suspend any of it’s members—many of whom are the very scammers who claim to be tracking down and recovering cash.

At first glance the group, SCAMMERS LIST UPDATE presents itself as a noble cause: a community dedicated to helping people track down scammers and recover lost money.

But behind the virtuous veil lies a network of fraudsters who charge victims fees to supposedly recover their stolen funds. This group offers a cruel irony—a scam to “help” victims of scams.

The group post image below, posted by a scammer with a fake profile illustrates a scam and the individual behind it—a scammer that Meta refuses to address or take action against after being reported. The account should have been suspened.

The scammer writes they were a victim of scam that lost $62,000. However, the post presented in the group leads readers to a link, a supposed scam recovery expert listed on Instagram.

However, the link leads you directly to the person ready to scam you. Once more, this has been reported to Meta who refuses to take action via the reporting tool.

Let’s be clear: once you’ve been scammed and sent money to a fraudster, that money is as good as gone. The idea that someone can retrieve it for you, especially a group of strangers on Facebook, is a dangerous and expensive lie.

It’s all too easy for ambitious founders to get swept up in the whirlwind of excitement that comes with launching a new venture. But amidst the thrill, there’s a dark undercurrent of deceit that preys on the inexperienced and the hopeful.

Enter the PR and media scams—an epidemic of empty promises and slick-talking fraudsters who pounce on those desperate for a taste of the limelight.

It starts innocently enough. A cold email arrives in your inbox, dripping with the allure of immediate fame.

The subject line tantalises with mentions of top-tier publications like TechCrunch or Business Insider—those elusive beacons of success that every startup dreams of gracing.

The message is bold, promising guaranteed coverage that will catapult your brand into the stratosphere. It all sounds too good to be true. And it is.

These emails are often impersonal, a generic template designed to cast the widest net possible. Why? Because you weren’t specifically chosen for your brilliance or your groundbreaking product.

No, you landed on their radar because you appeared on some list, or maybe you had a fleeting moment of visibility in the news. They don’t care about your story; they care about your money.

Ah, the audacity of it all! Picture this: a beleaguered journalist, sitting at their desk, coffee gone cold, staring at a screen inundated with submissions from hopeful souls. Their crime? Trying to pass off AI-generated content as the real deal. As if we, the guardians of language and truth, wouldn’t notice!

Let’s set the record straight. AI has its place—calculating trends, managing data, even ordering your groceries. But writing? Writing is an art, a craft honed through years of toil, sweat, and yes, a fair share of tears. You can’t just slap together a few algorithmically generated sentences and expect it to pass muster.

Yet here we are, besieged by submissions from self-proclaimed wordsmiths who seem to think that a few lines strung together by a machine can slip past us unnoticed.

They clickity-clack away on their keyboards, summoning the digital muse, and out pops prose that’s as soulless as a spam email. Oh, the irony!

It’s not just about spotting the occasional misplaced comma or a run-on sentence. No, it’s about the essence of writing itself—the cadence, the rhythm, the subtle dance of words that only a human mind can orchestrate.

Real writers, real journalists, we can smell AI-generated content from a mile away. It’s like serving us a Michelin-star meal prepared by a microwave.

And yet, bless their hearts, these digital desperados continue to flood our inboxes with their AI-generated flotsam and jetsam.

As organisations across Australia implement digital transformation projects and increase their adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the level of associated cyber risk rises. Further, these risks become more complex and harder to manage.

It is imperative that business leaders understand the nature of the cyber risks and threats facing their organisations and how to address them.

We recently found that fewer than half (45%) of Australian businesses surveyed for an international study rated their IT security posture as effective or very effective when it came to identifying and responding to threats.

The other countries surveyed showed the same pattern. We decided to dig deeper to understand why this might be the case, and what organisations can do to boost their cyber resilience and mitigate risk.

Gaps in security governance

Some of the biggest challenges facing organisations trying to manage cyber risk are related not to technology, but to how security is managed and implemented across the organisation. For Australian organisations with between 100 and 2,500 employees these challenges include:

Inadequate incident response strategies

Only half the Australian businesses surveyed have an incident response plan that is applied consistently across their organisation, while 1 in 10 don’t have a plan at all. If an organisation doesn’t have a plan for what to do if a security incident takes place, they risk finding themselves in the precarious position of not knowing how to react to events, and consequently doing nothing or doing the wrong thing.

Lack of consistent company-wide security policies and programs

The most cited governance challenge was a lack of consistent enterprise-wide security policies and programs. This was listed as a top two challenge by 49% of Australian organisations.

Alright, let me tell you something that’s been eating away at me for a while now—these darn anime cartoons are sucking our children into a fantasy world, and it’s driving me up the wall!

I mean, what happened to good old-fashioned cartoons with simple morals and characters that actually look like humans or cute Disney characters? Now it’s all big-eyed, spiky-haired violent characters with powers and storylines that make absolutely no sense.

Every time I noticed children watching Anime Cartoons, all I observed was a whole bunch of nothing that made absolutely no sense and was packed with odd content. Seriously, what are they even watching? It’s just a mishmash of bizarre characters doing random things with no coherent storyline.

The weird themes and questionable messages these shows seem to promote. It’s like they’re designed to scramble kids’ brains and fill them with nonsense. Instead of engaging in something meaningful or educational, they’re wasting their time on this mindless dribble.

The screen pulsates with a whirlwind of colors and characters, but amidst the chaos, there’s no substance, no coherence—just a chaotic jumble of meaningless scenes. The shows, a toxic cocktail of aimlessness and oddity, leave a trail of confusion and emptiness in their wake.

It’s disheartening to see young minds captivated by such vacuous content, their potential squandered on a wasteland of meaningless entertainment. From glorified violence to hypersexualized imagery, these cartoons peddle distorted values and warped ideals

To me, it seems anime culture obsession is getting out of hand. They’re dressing up like these characters, speaking in Japanese phrases they don’t even understand, and spending all their allowance on merchandise. It’s like they’re living in a parallel universe where Pikachu is their best friend and they’re training to be the next Hokage or something.
