Optus powers up Apple Tree Creek in Bundaberg

Optus has commissioned its first tower in one of Bundaberg’s rural towns, Apple Tree Creek. The new tower will strengthen Optus services across the region and provide local people with competition and the opportunity to join our best network ever.

The mobile tower will help provide better connectivity with the municipality, particularly within the building, and help bridge the coverage gap along this part of Bruce Highway. While the population at Apple Tree Creek is small, the area is the main thoroughfare in the region with approximately 6,500 cars passing daily along this stretch of Bruce Highway. Apple Tree Creek is a convenient stop on the way to Bundaberg or Gin Gin, so the tower is welcome news for travellers in the area

Optus Territory General Manager for Wide Bay Queensland, Mungo O’Brien, said: “We are very pleased to be able to help close the coverage gap for our customers. Apple Tree Creek is a convenient stop on the way to Bundaberg or Gin Gin so it was extremely important for us to be able to provide local residents and businesses with genuine choices for their telecom services.

“We know that it is more important than ever for our customers to have access to a reliable network, and we pride ourselves on delivering our fast 4G service at optimal speeds for streaming and downloading content.”

Optus continues to invest in improving the coverage, reliability and speed of its regional Queensland cellular network. In the past year alone, Optus has invested $ 2.6 million in building 11 new sites state-wide. Optus will build on that figure with 27 new locations planned over the next 12 months.
