The Consumer Electronics Show 2024, or CES, is one of the biggest tech events of the year, offering a first look at next-generation TVs, laptops, smart home gadgets, cars, and more.

Adopted by transportation and logistics enterprises worldwide, the Guardian solution from Seeing Machines has been implemented for over 14 billion kilometers of documented travel spanning 54,000 vehicles.

In 2000 by Alex Zelinsky, Timothy Edwards, Sebastien Rougeaux and Jochen Heinzmann founded Seeing Machines ‘on a mission to achieve zero transport fatalities’ and its technology has made 387,973 fatigue interventions in the past 12 months.

Originating from the Australian National University (ANU) in collaboration with Volvo Technological Development, Seeing Machines has undergone independent testing for its third-generation Guardian solution.

The results confirm its compliance with the European Commission’s General Safety Regulation for Drowsiness Detection, a mandatory requirement for all new vehicles, including cars, vans, trucks, and buses in Europe starting July 2024.

Additionally, Seeing Machines emphasises that the hardware offers a variety of features and utilises the company’s established automotive-grade algorithms and precision optics, ensuring premium performance even in the most challenging real-world driving conditions.

According to Seeing Machines CEO Paul McGlone regulation continues to drive demand for all its DMS technology and he’s pleased the company successfully launched the next generation of our Guardian solution for commercial transport and logistics companies as well as commercial vehicle manufacturers.

“A reliable solution that only activates when required is so important for driver adoption and continued road safety. Additionally, supporting commercial vehicle OEMs with an aftermarket (or factory fit) solution is critical to their ability to sell compliant vehicles.

“And, given the lower annual volume of production of these vehicles versus cars, I am delighted that Seeing Machines is able to service this new market segment profitably and continue to drive our purpose of getting people home safely,” says McGlone

Beside operators incorporating the technology into their vehicle fleets, the company is actively pursuing partnerships with commercial vehicle manufacturers, offering both factory-fit and post-manufacturing solutions.

Seeing Machines has secured contracts for a total of 17 automotive programs, collaborating with 11 distinct original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

CES 2024, recognised as the preeminent global technology event, scheduled to take place from January 9th to January 12th, 2024 showcases cutting-edge technologies and innovations across various industries, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts from around the world
