TCL has announced that four devices from the 30 series — the TCL 30+, TCL 30 SE and the TCL 305 and 306 — will be hitting the Aussie market from April 18, 2022.

Best known for its TV products in the country, TCL has started to build quite a reputation for affordable smartphones.

With a focus on display technology and high-quality features like mobile photography and battery life, the latest devices cover all budgets – and local prices are surprisingly good.

At MWC 2022, TCL revealed several new devices as a part of the 30 series range. This includes the:

  • TCL 30E
  • TCL 30SE
  • TCL 30
  • TCL 30+
  • TCL 30 5G

Joseph Corrente, Channel Manager for TCL Communication Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands said, “Following a highly successful 2021 locally for TCL Mobile, which saw us introduce 11 new devices across smartphones, wearables and audio, we’re thrilled to be able to carry this momentum into 2022.

“Today marks the start of our new product introductions for the year with four new devices, led by the TCL 30+ and 30 SE. These devices reinforce our growing position in the market to deliver incredible display technology alongside an array of other high-quality features at an affordable price.”

“As Australians are enjoying more screen time, including children and young adults, we are focused on developing a hardware solution that helps reduce harmful blue light in screens. We have accomplished this with the TCL 30 Series and this will continue to be a focus for other areas of our range as well moving forward,” said Mr Corrente.

The 30+ and 30 SE phones were part of the initial launch at MWC, but the 305 and 306 are a couple of cheaper new additions to the lineup. These four devices have been designed and positioned as phones with screens focused on eye health and the reduction of eye strain, thanks to the use of TCL’s NXTVISION technology.

The key strengths of the entire lineup are the screens, all of which feature TCL NXTVISION display optimisation technology and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The 30 5G, 30+, and 30 models have a 6.7-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2400, 395 ppi) AMOLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate. Both the 30 SE and 30 E have a 6.52-inch HD+ (720 x 1600, 269 ppi) mini-notch panel.

Australian pricing and availability:

  • TCL 30+: $399 (available in Muse Blue and Tech Black from Harvey Norman, Officeworks, Big W, Target, Mobileciti, Amazon, Dick Smith)
  • TCL 30 SE: $329 (available in Atlantic Blue and Space Gray from Harvey Norman, Officeworks, Big W, Target, Mobileciti, Amazon, Dick Smith)
  • TCL 306: $229 (available in Atlantic Blue and Space Gray from Harvey Norman, Big W, Mobileciti, Amazon, Dick Smith)
  • TCL 305: $199 (available in Atlantic Blue and Space Gray from Officeworks, Big W, Target, Vodafone, Mobileciti, Amazon, Dick Smith)

Included with TCL’s signature NXTVISION screen technology are batteries above 5,000mAh. Each phone will have Android 12 and TCL has committed to at least two years of security upgrades for each device along with at least one OS upgrade during that time.

TCL’s 30 Series phones are all powered by MediaTek chipsets: Dimensity 700 (30 5G), Helio G37 (30+, 30) and Helio G25 (30 SE, 30 E).
