Optus Enterprise has announced the completion of the entire 5G enablement across Adelaide’s premier innovation district, Lot Fourteen.

It’s the first innovation district in South Australia to be fully connected across the whole site by 5G. Over 1,300 entrepreneurs and innovators working in the collaborative ecosystem are now able to explore the capabilities afforded to them by using Optus’ 5G alongside visitors and the broader community.

The 5G connectivity can support ultra-fast speeds which means startups, scaleups, research organisations, global companies and enterprise customers at Lot Fourteen can explore and experiment with how 5G innovation can address technological challenges in multiple industries.*

Premier Steven Marshall says Lot Fourteen is cementing itself as the innovation capital of the nation.

“This amazing site continues to create jobs and generate innovation across some of the most exciting sectors,” said the Premier.

“In the future, this site will help people solve some of the world’s most complex problems, and it’s right here in South Australia.”

Chris Mitchell, Managing Director of Optus Enterprise said, “The deployment of Optus’ 5G technology at Lot Fourteen will significantly strengthen Australia’s innovation across a number of sectors including defence, space and high-technology.

“Lot Fourteen will now be able to support the collaboration and use of cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence and edge computing.”

The 5G enablement will also advance the University of South Australia’s ability to further deliver research outcomes that drive technology innovations and educate Australia’s next generation of cyber security and data science specialists.

It builds off the joint venture announced in November 2020 that establishes an Optus and University of South Australia led Cyber Security Research and Collaboration Hub in the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre (A3C).

Lot Fourteen’s State Project Lead, Di Dixon, said the innovation district is excited to offer a mobile communications network which delivers significant increases in speed and capacity offered by 5G across the entire site.

“Our continued investment in digital infrastructure continues to ensure we provide a world-class innovation district for business and research institutions. This includes, the already established connection with fibre optic network GigCity, offering broadband speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second.”

Situated in the heart of the Adelaide CBD, Lot Fourteen is an integral part of South Australia’s innovation network bringing together global businesses, startups and scale-ups across space, defence, hi-tech and creative industries.
