Queensland families desperate for home-based childcare are turning to new online solutions to fill the gap left by vulnerable grandparents staying away due to Covid fears.

Brisbane-based Kiddo App has just launched its first ‘Find a Nanny’ service. The new platform creates an online community and support network for parents, giving them control, convenience, and stability – all at their fingertips.

Kiddo founder Rebecca Dredge said there was a clear need in the market for parents scrambling for home-based care for their children, including last-minute solutions.

“These are challenging times and many families are struggling to work from home and look after their children, with many vulnerable grandparents now unable to help out with the care of their grandchildren,” said Rebecca.

“The risk to the elderly is forcing many families to rethink their childcare arrangements,” she said. “Many parents are also nervous about sending their children outside the home for their daily care needs.

“Kiddo addresses this growing problem for south-east Queensland parents looking for ongoing, at home care for their children.

“The Kiddo App provides more than 1,500 carers all that at your fingertips, so mum and dad can organise the year ahead and secure a long-term carer from the comfort of their couch.”

Since launching in 2019, thousands of parents and babysitters have subscribed to the online service to help them manage their babysitting needs and has featured in the top 20 apps on the App Store.

Kiddo App is an award-winning online platform that gives parents more time and freedom by connecting them with local, verified, affordable babysitters and nannies, instantly.

It allows parents to book a babysitter on the move with as little as two hours’ notice and get some extra support, whether they need some help home-schooling, a day to work from home or to go on a date night.

McDowall mum, Melissa Purvis said with her vulnerable grandparents unable to care for her child like they used to, she has relied on Kiddo to help find care for her five-year-old daughter Ainsley.

“Kiddo has been a lifesaver for our family. These are very challenging times for families and having an online nanny service at our fingertips, relieves that stress,” she said.

“A lot of families who use to rely on grandparents for assistance, now need to find alternative arrangements. It can be stressful and time consuming trying to find the right person that you feel comfortable with. Kiddo has allowed us to find care for my child, when my parents haven’t been able to.”

Kiddo has recently hit 10,000 users on the app as it continues to grow through the pandemic as a much-needed service for families.
