In the latest plus line the new 4-bay Synology DS923+ all-in-one storage device for home office and small business users launches to deliver soho data management solutions
The Synology DSM operating system powers the DS923+ to protect and manage business data, collaborate on documents, access files remotely, and monitor physical assets, all in a compact desktop format.
It also provides a variety of solutions right out of the box, as well as easy network and data transfer speed upgrades that can be implemented through additional network cards.
Michael Wang, Product Manager at Synology says the DS923+ provides users with impressive performance and capability for its size.
“With the ability to easily scale the storage and networking, it adapts as your needs grow.” said Wang.
Capable of storing over 50 TB across its compact 4-bay setup.
The DS923+ can function as the primary storage and data protection solution for homes and small offices, or as an edge node for multi-site deployments.
Capable of storing over 50 TB across its compact 4-bay setup, it can easily be scaled to accommodate over 120 TB across 9 drives with a DX517 expansion unit.
Users can further boost performance by upgrading to 10GbE networking and by adding M.2 NVMe SSD drives through the built-in PCIe slot to enable fast caching or create additional all-flash storage pools.
Efficient On-Premises Storage
The DS923+ allows users to make use of high-performance local storage while simultaneously reducing footprint using hybrid cloud technology. Synology Hybrid Share efficiently stores cold data in the cloud and keeps frequently accessed files cached on the device for access at LAN speed.
With Synology site-to-site file syncing, Synology devices can be used to keep files in sync across multiple locations. Synology Drive provides simple file management and sharing, allowing for both remote file access and data privacy and ownership.
Multi-Layered Active Backup Suite
Ensuring that critical or sensitive data is always protected against modern cybersecurity threats is essential to avoid irreversible loss of valuable information.
Synology’s Active Backup Suite allows IT infrastructure, such as Windows and Linux systems, Hyper-V/VMware VMs, and Microsoft 365/Google Workspace accounts, to be safely backed up onto the DS923+ and easily restored when needed.
Additionally, NAS data can be backed up and stored offsite on another server or cloud service for redundancy and point-in-time snapshots.
Synology’s Surveillance Station
The soho NAS can also serve as a full-fledged video management system with full local data ownership. Synology’s Surveillance Station is a powerful VMS that is currently implemented in and protecting over 500,000 sites.
Flexible ONVIF support and more than 8,300 validated IP cameras make deployment simple and easily suited to each location’s requirements.
With Surveillance Station, you can set up and manage up to 40 cameras in a simple and effective interface. For larger or multi-building environments, you can overlay floor plans and Google Maps or OpenStreetMap maps for increased situational awareness.
With recording server backup, multi-device management, and even end-to-end encrypted, simultaneous dual recording to the Synology C2 cloud, important footage can be preserved for increased resilience.
Processing Power
Over the past decade, the product series has been characterized by processors from Intel. With the DS923+, Synology chose AMD. The new model runs on an AMD Embedded Ryzen R1600 CPU.
The CPU’s performance is adequate. The AMD Embedded Ryzen R1600 has two cores and a clock speed of 2.6Ghz. The four-thread architecture allows the CPU to be distributed across multiple workloads.
DS923+ Availability
As of Nov 17 the Synology DS923+ is available through Synology partners and resellers worldwide.
