The carrier has unveiled plans for a phased rollout of SabreMosaic, following a strategic IT and GDS distribution agreement with U.S.-based technology provider Sabre and aims to enhance the carrier’s operational and distribution capabilities within the aviation sector.
The transition to SabreMosaic will involve the implementation of over 40 products aimed at strengthening the airline’s retailing capabilities and strategy.
This phased approach will take place over the next two years. The airline has already begun adopting key tools from the SabreMosaic Offer Management suite, including Air Price IQ and Ancillary.
According to Sabre the initial phase will “set the stage for a transformative retailing experience” and added the partnership is a “significant milestone in the airline’s journey towards modern retailing”.
SabreMosaic, developed through a partnership between Sabre and tech giant Google, is designed to drive innovation by leveraging emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
The platform offers a data intelligence toolkit aimed at helping airlines modernize operations and make data-driven decisions, enhancing their e-commerce and digital retailing capabilities.
Roshan Mendis, chief commercial officer of Sabre Travel Solutions, said: “Building on our decades-long partnership, Sabre is proud to collaborate with Virgin Australia as our launch partner for SabreMosaic, which is our revolutionary platform designed to transform airline retailing.
“We aim to empower Virgin Australia to deliver a personalised, dynamic travel experience that will set a new standard in the industry. This collaboration marks the beginning of a new era, as SabreMosaic is now available to airlines worldwide.”
David Hogarth, chief information officer at Virgin Australia, said “We are excited to partner with Sabre to lead the industry in modern airline retailing,”
“This partnership supports our mission of being Australia’s most loved airline by offering our customers choice and a wonderful guest experience”
“The SabreMosaic platform will over time enable us to optimise our offers, enhance guest interactions, and build a competitive advantage in the market.” he said.
Sabre designed SabreMosaic and related solutions with a modular approach, giving Virgin Australia the ability to operate in a hybrid environment as it evolves from traditional EDIFACT environment to full NDC and Offer and Order.
Virgin Australia will continue to use the SabreSonic PSS (Passenger Service System) and related solutions throughout its journey to an Offer and Order future.
