According to Telstra CEO Vicki Brady Nikos has been instrumental in ensuring Telstra delivers and operates next generation network technologies to create one of the largest, smartest, safest and most reliable mobile networks in the world.

After 5 years in his current role at Telstra, Katinakis decided it was the right time to make the next step in his career in North America.

“Network leadership is a clear strategic priority for T25 and beyond. Nikos will leave a strong team to continue to grow our global reputation.,” said Nikos

During his tenure at Telstra, Mr. Katinakis has played a critical role in shaping the company’s technology and global networks strategy.

Under his leadership, Telstra has made significant advancements in its network infrastructure and technology innovation, strengthening its position as a leading telecommunications provider both in Australia and internationally.

The Telstra Board is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and identifying the right candidate to continue driving Telstra’s technology and global networks initiatives and internal and external search for a replacement is underway ahead of Katinakis’ departure on 20 December.

In August, the telecommunications company celebrated the completion of the first full year of its T25 strategy, demonstrating sustained financial growth and a positive trend throughout FY23.

Total revenue increased by 5.4 percent to reach $23.2 billion, and reported EBITDA expanded by 8.4 percent, totaling $7.9 billion.

Underlying EBITDA experienced an even more substantial growth of 9.6 percent, reaching $8 billion. Net profit after tax saw a notable increase of 13.1 percent, amounting to $2.1 billion.

During this period, Brady expressed confidence that the T25 strategy remained on course and anticipated reaching the halfway point of its delivery in the coming months.

Katinakis first joined Telstra back in 2018 as part of a restructure that saw Telstra bring together responsibility for networks and IT under a single executive. Uncertainty Surrounds Katinakis’s International Relocation to North America as his new position remains undefined.
