A 24 hour virtual global stage will shine the spotlight on the world’s best in building design for International Building Designer Day 2021.
Hosted by The Building Designers Association of Australia, the ‘Around the World in a Day’ livestream on Wednesday 18 August will feature over 36 international guest speakers including NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler.
The National President of BDAA Frank Geskus said the event is a world first in showcasing cutting edge building design solutions in a Covid-changing world.
“We have secured designers and industry experts from around the world to share the unique contributions they are making to the global build environment and to the future of our world and industry,” said Mr Geskus.
“Nothing like this has been done before in our industry and we’ve taken the lead to help our building designers innovate, adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing landscape.
“We are particularly excited about having Mr Chandler speak because a large number of our designers are in NSW and need to stay on top of potential upcoming legislative changes affecting the industry.”
The Building Design industry in Australia has an economic value of over $260 billion, employing over 250,000 individuals. Like many industries, COVID-19 has had a massive impact on the building design sector, causing professionals to rethink some of the building design requirements and strategies.
The ‘Around the World in a Day’ livestream of TED Talk-style presentations will showcase exciting new projects and topics – from transforming cities post-Covid to sustainable building design and the ‘Green Economy’, to how smart construction is changing home-building.
The theme of this year’s International Building Designer Day is A New Day, A New Design.
