Elenium, experts in technology that moves you faster, has appointed Ralf Weber as Head of Supply Chain and Sustainability, to ensure the company is well positioned as the aviation sector ramps up following a near-total shutdown during the height of the COVID pandemic.

Ralf Weber joins Elenium as the business welcomes an upswing in the aviation sector following nearly two years of COVID restrictions. He brings over 30 years of experience in senior logistics and supply chain with previous roles at Invetech and MiniFAB, and is passionate about delivering business success through continuous improvement, strategic supply chain management and applying standard work.

“While airlines are coming back online and freight routes have eased somewhat, our efforts continue to focus on planning to avoid component shortages in our production process so we can get products out the door to our customers,” Weber says.

“My priority will be ensuring we deliver on promises to our customers whilst better integrating supply chain into the various business areas at Elenium.”

Aaron Hornlimann, CEO and Co-founder at Elenium Automation says: “We are excited to have someone with Ralf’s vast experience on board to help during a pivotal time for the company as the world reopens and the applications for our technologies increase.”

Launched in 2015 with a vision to create a seamless airport experience, Elenium’s self-service and automation technologies, incorporating voice control and biometrics, reduce airport passenger congestion by up to 60 percent.

Elenium responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by heavily investing in its R&D and people to invent new touchless technologies that deliver a frictionless experience and keep people safe and confident wherever crowds gather in numbers, including entertainment, health, aged care and transport.

Elenium was recently recognised in Fast Company’s prestigious annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Travel Companies for 2022. It received special mention for its work with Etihad Airways on a white label self-service technology, which allows passengers to check in and provide health information—body temperature, heart rate and respiratory rate.

Its suite of products, VYGR (short for Voyager), is used in over 20 airports globally including Auckland Airport, Bangalore Airport, and Avalon Airport in Australia. The VYGR suite also includes an AI-powered bag drop that eliminates the need for bag tags.

Melbourne-based Elenium employs over 85 staff and designs, develops and manufactures in Australia. It has installations across Asia Pacific, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, India, Middle East, Africa, Europe and the USA.
