TPG Telecom has launched a new, ultra fast internet service promising 10 gigabit (10Gbps) speeds for businesses and government customers
TPG Telecom described the new 10 Gigabit Fast Fibre offering as a “10Gbps Fast Fibre internet service for business and enterprise customers looking for the ultimate in ultrafast broadband connectivity.
The telco announced in May that fibre to the building (FTTB) customers would be able download speeds up to 1000Mbps via its private network and was the first Australian telco to introduce “G.Fast“, which is responsible for the superfast download speeds to FTTB locations.
The new 10 Gigabit Fiber service will be available to over 137,000 businesses in metropolitan areas of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra at a price tag of $2,499 per month (ex-GST)
TPG says it will install high-capacity hardware upgrades in major metropolitan areas to enable 10Gbps connectivity across its network deliveing 10x faster broadband access.
The telco added the new broadband service will allow businesses to exchange high volumes of data quickly and securely between premises, partners and clients.
The 10Gbps service is taylored for banks and financial institutions who require the use of high-speed data links for real-time fraud detection. Other use cases include universities housing online learning hubs and stream HD video.
The service won’t avaliable to residential customers at this point in time however, with a price tag of 2.5k per month online gaming fanatics and small businesses are happy to settle with current broadband plans
